Originally launched in 1999, Intrepid Media started as a zine, became one of the first blogs, and then one of the first social networks, definitely the first social network for writers.

• Intrepid Media is 100% human-written content, read and enjoyed by 99.9% human readers... because we'll take a bot's money.

Intrepid is being (re)built using:

• Rating and recommendation alogrithms based on the ones I wrote 20 years ago.
• Next.js and TypeScript for the full application, running on PostgreSQL.
• Docker for a fully containerized, self-hosted deployment behind nginx.
• Some Claude Code for the rewrite, architecture, implementation, and deployment, but still mostly being built by hand early on.
